Through Citizens’ Eyes è un progetto di ricerca internazionale che integra scienze ambientali, citizen science e innovazione per proteggere e ripristinare gli ecosistemi delle zone umide minacciate. Il progetto affronta sfide chiave come l'eutrofizzazione, l'inquinamento e la biodiversità, attraverso un approccio interdisciplinare e partecipativo. Il coinvolgimento attivo di cittadini, scuole e stakeholder locali è una componente centrale di questa iniziativa, consentendo l'identificazione di indicatori ambientali chiave per valutare la salute delle zone umide e i fattori che determinano il degrado degli ecosistemi. Attraverso l'app di monitoraggio, gli utenti possono contribuire a mappare e valutare le condizioni ecologiche delle zone umide. Il monitoraggio partecipativo rafforza inoltre la consapevolezza ambientale e il coinvolgimento attivo degli stakeholder locali nella gestione delle zone umide e in soluzioni sostenibili come il biorisanamento.

Through Citizens’ Eyes is an international research project that integrates environmental sciences, citizen science, and innovation to protect and restore threatened wetland ecosystems. The project addresses key challenges such as eutrophication, pollution and biodiversity issues, through an interdisciplinary and participatory approach. The active involvement of citizens, schools, and local stakeholders is a central component of this initiative, enabling the identification of key environmental indicators to assess wetland health and the drivers of ecosystem degradation. Through the monitoring App, users can contribute to map and assess ecological conditions of wetlands. Participatory monitoring also strengthens environmental awareness and an active involvement of local stakeholders in wetland management and sustainable solutions such as bioremediation.
